Light is not Measured in Volume

Jamil Molaeb was born in 1948 in Baissour, Lebanon. He earned a Master's Degree from Pratt Institute, New York, and a PhD in Art Education from the University of Ohio. His paintings place emphasis on his native Lebanon, often depicting seascapes and village life that celebrate the landscape and its traditions. Molaeb has held solo and group exhibitions in Lebanon, Algeria, and Brooklyn, New York, and received the sculpture award from the Sursock Museum in the 1960s. His work features in the collections of the Sursock Museum, the Bahrain Museum, the World Bank in Washington DC, the Dalloul Art Foundation, and his own museum, the Jamil Molaeb Museum, in Mount Lebanon.

Mouna Bassili Sehnaoui was born in 1945 in Lebanon. She studied at the American University of Beirut and the University of Arizona, becoming the Arab world's first academically trained female graphic designer. Her work draws on Byzantine, Persian, and Phoenician iconography, using flat colour and intricate composition to explore Lebanon's daily life, war, and resilience. Sehnaoui designed Lebanon's national tourism logo and has held solo exhibitions in Beirut, Paris, and Dubai. Her work features in collections including the Sursock Museum, the American University of Beirut, and the Institute of Arab Art, Paris.
